SO Quentin MacDonald thinks that people today would be unable to exist without technology (The Press, May 19).

I wonder if he’d be quite so keen on it if he was of working age and had lost his job because of it.

It’s because of people doing everything online that so many businesses have closed.

Technology is responsible for the loss of millions of jobs, fraud and crime on an unprecedented scale and a generation of parents who live in fear for their children’s safety.

Without it, terrorists, perverts and criminals would still be crawling around in the woodwork instead of being out of it.

Babies and children wouldn’t be ignored while their parents bawl down mobile phones and constantly scrutinise (un)social media.

Not everything today is an improvement on bygone days.

How can a steam train be compared to one of today’s soulless monstrosities?

Experts are forecasting more cyber attacks so perhaps we should all go back to the pre-technology age when everything was so much simpler.

If only it could be uninvented.
