IT is interesting to note the editorial comment on Denise Craghill’s proposals to permanently close Gillygate (The Press, May 22), especially in respect of drivers, taxis and bus passengers being the main losers.

Yet among the beneficiaries of dramatically improved air quality were residents of Gillygate.

Does that mean the significantly greater population/residency levels within Burton Stone Lane are somehow inferior and should deserve not only increased traffic congestion but worse air pollution levels than the (significantly) fewer but far more influential residents of our more affluent parts of the city?
