NOW the Tory manifesto has been released, it has become clear that they are going for pensioners as well as failing the low paid and those who are unable to work.

They refuse to clarify how many will lose the winter fuel payment, just saying it will be means tested.

Without clarification it could mean that the majority lose the payment, and many others will fail to claim the benefit which they automatically receive now.

It is also clear that the vast majority will have to use their house to pay for social care, as there are very few houses worth under £100,000 in York.

Why should conditions like dementia be treated differently from other health problems?

You wouldn’t be expected to pay for your care with other terminal diseases; well at least not for the moment.

Only a vote for Labour will protect benefits for pensioners and also bring workers out of poverty struggling to pay the high cost of living in York by bringing in a real living wage of £10 per hour.
