TAKING a stroll around York on Good Friday, I was amazed to see how many tradesmen - painters, joiners, electricians etc - were working over the Bank Holiday.
Then it struck me, they all must be self-employed and don’t get paid for Bank Holidays, sick days, holidays.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
What’s the point of a Bank Holiday when it has just become a normal working day for many?
