THE Labour MP for York, Rachael Maskell, has issued a leaflet saying 1,400 jobs will be lost if the army barracks in York closes.

Can she explain where she gets these figures from?

Now I know Labour love to employ non-productive civil servants at high wages, but to find that civilians are employed to wash the dishes at Imphal Barracks and, believe it or not, civilian security guards, is mind boggling.

When I was in the forces, all the work on the camps was done by servicemen.

If the Labour leaflet is to be believed then the closing of these camps could bring a saving of around £35 million a year.

This could be spent on the NHS.

What is the Labour MP’s priority, the NHS or dishwashers?
