ON March 3, I had open heart surgery at Leeds General Infirmary.

Following that operation, I had to have two more procedures resulting in my having a pacemaker fitted.

From the day I consulted my GP regarding what I considered a minor affliction (breathlessness), I had a barrage of tests and procedures throughout 2016.

The majority of the tests were carried out at York Hospital, although I also had to go to St Luke’s in Bradford and LGI.

The result of all the tests was the above surgery.

At every appointment I was shown nothing but consideration and respect.

Procedures were explained to me so I knew just what was going on, how and why.

When I was admitted to LGI, every staff member was so helpful, kind and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble.

Post op, I was so well cared for. I was in ICU, kept as pain free as possible, as comfortable as possible and helped with every move. It was the same when I was moved onto the ward.

How is it possible to describe such care. Thank you seems inadequate.

How dare people criticise the staff of our NHS, and politicians should protect the service with every ounce of their might by ensuring funds are in place for the best treatment for everyone, instead of trying to squeeze it to the limit.

This letter cannot adequately express my gratitude.

I don’t know what else to say except, thank you, thank you, thank you to all concerned.
