I HAVE recently bought a new car.
It has been delivered in excellent condition. There is, however, a problem.
The registration plates are prefixed with the letters ‘GB’ and the European flag.
I considered complaining, but since at the point of ordering we had not yet invoked Article 50 I felt I may not have had a leg to stand on.
Clearly it will have to be replaced - but with what? ‘GB’ and the Union Flag? ‘GB’ and the Union Flag without the blue bits?
Or will Wales finally gain acknowledgement and the Union Flag be redesigned with a little dragon in one corner?
Should I settle for ‘ENG’ and St George’s Flag? Or is Yorkshire intent on home rule?
It does make you wonder whether the current fashion for independence is simply a ruse by the manufacturers to sell more registration plates.
Who makes them? I’ll buy some shares.
