I AM writing to publicly thank all those who supported the Music for Good concert at the Guildhall.

It was not only a superb evening full of great music but also raised £487 for the Lord Mayor’s charities: St Nicks, York Racial Equality Network, York LGBT Forum and York Civic Trust.

A special big thank you goes to the musicians Lucy Jubb (soprano), Catherine Strachan (cello), Charlotte Pugh (treble recorder) and David Hammond (piano).

They all gave brilliant performances and chose music with links to all the charities.

There were pieces by York composers, music inspired by nature, works written by composers from varying racial backgrounds and from the LGBTQ community.

It was a truly eclectic programme to reflect on music being an art form that brings people together, and often crosses borders and communities without a thought.

Big thanks also go to Novalux LED who helped us hire and install lighting from another company, and to the Lord Mayor and Civic Party for their support.
