TWENTY York schools will get much-needed repairs as a result of a £2.3 million council investment. The money will come from council funds, Government grants and contributions from developers who have built nearby.
Among the schools to benefit will be York High School, which will receive £141,000 for roof repairs, and Dringhouses Primary, which will get £570,000 to pay for roof repairs, improved fire alarms and a kitchen refurbishment.
This will be money well spent. Some schools - including York High - will soon become academies. But we don’t want any children sitting in leaky, cold classrooms, whatever kind of school they go to.
