DOROTHY NICHOLSON (Letters, March 20) points out my faux pas regarding saying Turkey is a part of the EU when, in actuality, it isn’t.

My apologies to Mrs/Ms Nicholson for getting this “vital” fact wrong.

However, the sight of the myriad Turkish flags being brandished in Rotterdam surely demonstrates that Turkey is a full member in all but name.

Mrs/Ms Nicholson says I am a perfect example of why so many of the Remainers are “unhappy and unsettled” about the Leave campaign. A campaign which is, apparently, based on fallacy, lies and scaremongering.

First and foremost, I am a British patriot and do not want my country to be a part of the inevitably doomed to fail EU.

Apparently the majority of EU citizens Mrs/Ms Nicholson meets are fulfilling vital roles in the NHS and other key services.

Which means what exactly? Presumably Mrs/Ms Nicholson is inferring those people would be persona non grata once we have left the EU.

Just because Britain will be out of the EU doesn’t mean those EU citizens will be expelled instantly.

They will simply have to proceed in the normal way to gain access to Britain. Exactly what they would have to do, to gain access to any other non-EU country.

Unfortunately the Remainers are not very patriotic people as they want to see our Sceptered Isle overrun with thousands of people from the beleaguered EU.

We can make our way in the world, away from the EU, and we will.

Britain stood alone in 1940 against the might of the German army.

We won through then, so dispensing with the EU will be much simpler.
