I’VE been following with interest the fallout from the Chancellor’s Budget last week.

A number of Conservative MPs seem to have been surprised by the decision to abandon a manifesto pledge and increase National Insurance for millions of self-employed people.

Personally, I was more surprised by the fact that Brexit didn’t get a single mention in the Chancellor’s speech.

Leaving the European Union is going to present a huge challenge to our economy, but the Government still seems to be wilfully blind to the size of the job.

Instead we’ve had the trade secretary Liam Fox telling British businesses how fat and lazy they are.

Businesses in York won’t be complacent about the future – they will be waiting for the Government to catch up.
