I HOPE when the examination of traffic flow on the A59 corridor (The Press, February 22) is carried out, the people responsible for the latest alterations in Holgate Road are not involved.

When driving from Holgate Bridge down Holgate hill, one is met by white lines everywhere.

You have a cycle lane marked for so long, with diagrams of cycles and white lines indicating a cycle path.

When you start to go down Holgate hill, the white lines disappear and only the cycle paintings remain, only to reappear further on.

At the same place, the centre line of the road has been moved further over from north to south, making the road narrower for vehicles going down the hill.

If large vehicles, such as buses, lorries and refuse trucks, are coming up Holgate hill towards Holgate Bridge, traffic going down the hill has to move over, encroaching onto the cycle path, or get side swiped by the larger vehicles coming in the opposite direction.

One can only presume that the planners of this are either cyclists or drive small cars.
