IT is an acknowledged fact that communities coming together create a better life for people, but I find it difficult to understand why Cllr Andrew Waller, Lib Dem executive member for the environment, seems to put emphasis on this aspect of people collecting litter (The Press, February 15).

What Cllr Waller doesn’t refer to is the fact that he is an executive member of the current Tory/Lib Dem controlling council in the city of York and basically he is saying that citizens of York should do the work of the council that the citizens have already paid for via their council tax.

Come clean Cllr Waller and explain to people why they should have to do the job that they have already paid somebody else to do.

I challenge Cllr Waller to inform the people of York what he would do if he had paid a builder or any other contractor to provide a service at his own house and they failed to provide that service.

Would he ask the community to help him out or take the contractor to court?

What he isn’t acknowledging is the fact that by being in coalition with the Tories, he is making things worse for the future generations.

Yet again proving that the Lib Dems say and do anything other than what we pay them for.
