I WAS delighted to see the proposed plans for the Nestle site (The Press, February 15).
I walk past this wonderful historic building every day and it saddens me to see it laying empty and unused.
The one much-needed element that’s missing in the plans is a proper link road from Crichton Avenue bridge to Haleys Terrace roundabout for all road users, not just buses.
At both peak times of the day Wigginton Road and Haxby Road are gridlocked. Add another 200-plus apartments on this site and it’s only getting worse.
Get it right now, you city planners, and insist that any approved development includes this vital new artery in York’s already over-saturated road network.
