OUR home is very close to Rowntree Park and, as children, we were unable to play on the vast area of grass because of geese dirt.

Now my children too are denied this parkland, except for the small fenced area at one end, where fencing is in place to exclude the geese.

At the moment, the council are cleaning out the pond and it makes me wonder if the park’s department would consider filling in the pond.

There is so much unhappiness and criticism because of the appalling state of the grass due to goose dirt that not having the expanse of water would gradually deter the geese from inhabiting what should be an area for human enjoyment.

Perhaps the long-suffering York citizens are unaware that each morning council workers come to the park to sweep the paths of the dirt, which as we can confirm are fouled again shortly afterwards.

What a cost over the years to the rate payers.
