I AM not surprised to see another increase in rail fares. It happens like the sales.
It was interesting to see an advert recently about HS2 and consultations.
Much money is being spent on this to get to Birmingham 20 minutes earlier.
Back before the Northern Powerhouse, there was an idea to improve the line across from Liverpool to Hull and shift freight and goods between the two ports.
Nothing came of this. Meanwhile, the West Coast line improves.
In Europe I am told fares are cheaper and there seems to be less of a problem improving systems. A lot of money seems to be wasted.
A recent trip back from London took a long time as the train could not do more than 50mph.
I have also heard of people missing meetings etc.
Maybe they should get paid by results.
