DURING an overnight stay in hospital recently I came home to find my central heating had failed and my home was very cold.

I rang the emergency number and, within a short time, the response was pleasing.

The heating engineer arrived quickly and repaired my unit.

I write this letter as a council tenant and I have to applaud the services they provide.

I cannot praise them enough as at the time I was unwell and exceedingly cold.

I realised just how privileged I am to have City of York Council as my landlord and the services and the support that goes with i.

The support from all the staff that night was great - a very caring attitude all round.

I must remember that these services must not be taken for granted and praise these outstanding members of staff from all sections of services within the council.

They provide their tenants nothing but the best service - even during unsociable hours.

I wish all those that work in the council - and their families - a very merry Christmas and festive New Year.

And thank you again for the outstanding service.
