THE Sustainability and Transformation Plan document reveals nothing new (The Press, November 26).
The rhetoric interestingly talks about the STP plan as a their “new big plan” but fails to detail where the cuts are going to fall.
Having worked as a nurse in the NHS for over 40 years, most of that time working in the community, I can say that multi-disciplinary teams, caring for people closer to home, hospital avoidance schemes and utilising specialist medical, nursing and therapy staff together with pharmacists and other professionals has been the working model for years.
It was never funded adequately and services specifically developed to care for patients in their homes cut.
Archways community hospital is closing with no public consultation.
I suspect this is just the beginning.
We need to wake up and take note of what’s happening... the gradual demise of our most valued, internationally renowned and cost-effective NHS.
It’s our NHS and we need to fight for it or we will lose it.
