LIVING in Broadway for the past 48 years we have seen a lot of changes in Fulford Road.

The cavalry barracks which my father was demobbed from after the First World War, plus the church, was demolished and the police station built.

The military hospital on the other side of the road was demolished and now has the big office block on that site.

The northern command office block in Fishergate was sold and is used by other firms.

Now they are talking about closing Imphal Barracks by 2031 and building houses on the site.

If by any stretch of the imagination this does happen, how on earth are they going to cope on the A19 into and out of York with all the extra traffic from that site plus the Germany Beck site at the bottom of Fulford?

We will just have to watch and wait.
