IF a Labour government presided over low productivity, inflation, wage stagnation and a projected £60 billion hit to the economy when Brexit kicks in, the Tories and their partisan newspaper proprietors would be all over them like a rash.

Yet Theresa May and her cheerleaders defend the circumstances her own government have created and plans to increase the deficit by £120 billion over five years by borrowing to finance the mess.

She risibly claims to support the workers and the “just about managing”, presumably the same people on low and middle incomes who as usual will be paying the cost of a failing economy.
