TORIES and Lib Dems all over this land should be totally ashamed of themselves.

Through the years they have successfully managed to totally ruin the provision of affordable (including council/social) housing in York and the country as a whole, as was introduced after the Second World War by a Labour government.

Official figures show that in 1991 the proportion of private house owners between 16 and 24 year olds was 36 per cent and between 25 to 34 year olds was 67 per cent.

In 2011, the figures had falled drastically to 12 per cent for the 16 to 24 year olds and 47 per cent for the 25 to 34 year olds, Since the Right To Buy scheme was reintroduced in 2012, local authorities have replaced less than one in ten homes sold.

These figures prove that both the housing strategy of the previous Lib Dem/Tory coalition government in Downing Street and the current coalition council housing strategy in York has catastrophically failed.
