SIXTEEN years ago, our son Joe was born with Down’s Syndrome and immediately brought joy into our lives.

Although we knew he would have different needs it did not matter, we were delighted as he was our son.

Joe is happy, kind, caring and fun and can be stubborn at times.

He brings so much pleasure and a different dimension not only to our lives, but to all those who meet him.

He has few material needs and the most important thing in his life are the people around him.

Things haven’t been easy for Joe. He was diagnosed with leukaemia aged two and underwent three years of chemotherapy. He is also hearing impaired, but he just takes all of these challenges in his stride.

Our family has been down a route most never follow, and we have met so many wonderful people along the way and seen opportunities that would never have otherwise presented themselves.

Our family have certainly led enhanced lives since the arrival of Joe.

We wouldn’t change a thing.
