ONCE again readers of The Press responded magnificently to our recent baby hedgehog appeal.

Some very kind people dropped items off for the little hoglets and equally important the article raised awareness about the desperate plight of our native, wild hedgehog.

I took phone calls from a number of York residents who were concerned about small hedgehogs seen out during the day.

I was able to give advice and also point them to our website, www.wildlifeorphans.co.uk, which has some very useful information.

Also, as a direct result of this article, three small hoglets were brought into rescue and are now comfortable in our intensive care units.

So on behalf of the Wildlife Orphanage and all our little patients I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who responded to our appeal.

You have given Britain’s favourite and very enchanting little mammal, the kindness and compassion they deserve.

Please keep our number 07711 883072 – you never know when you may need it.
