IN order to head off the usual seasonal flurry of moany, groany letters which fall into the editor’s in-tray, might I suggest that now is the time for all good (able-bodied) men and women to come to the aid of the council.

They can do this by taking up their recycling bins, brushes, shovels, boards and high-visibility jackets against a sea of leaves and, having cleared them, compost them.

But don’t put them out for collection by the council.
