ONCE again can the Royal Air Forces Association York Branch thank the citizens of York and also the many visitors to our city centre for contributing to the Wings collection on September 17.

We raised the fantastic sum of £1,601.40p which has now taken us just over our target for this year of £10,000.

This money goes towards helping the whole of the RAF family, be they children of serving personnel or veterans when they are in need.

We look forward to exceeding this amount in 2017 and meeting lots of lovely people.

If anyone is also interested in joining the Royal Air Forces Association York Branch please do not hesitate to contact our super club on 01904 652796.

The Club is based at 3-5 Aldwark and is open on Thursday evenings from around 8pm to 10.30pm and also on Saturdays from 11.30am to 3pm.

You will be made welcome.

We also have a website, www.rafayork.org, which you could check out and see what a fun time we all have, but mostly the collecting for Wings is the crux of our work.

My best wishes to the citizens and visitors to York.

Maureen Smith, Wings Appeal organiser, Royal Air Forces Association York Branch
