I was sad to hear that York City Knights RL Club cannot be promoted because they can’t get a settled venue for their home games.

The Knights have represented York magnificently in their efforts to rise up the leagues without any satisfactory support from the city council or York City FC. Between them these two bodies have demonstrated a lack of sportsmanship in the failure to give the Knights the backing that should be due to them.

Sports clubs and the council should be working together for the good of sport in the city. As a supporter of York City Football Club (the round ball game) I am disgusted at both YCFC and the council.

I REALLY feel for the York City Knights.

The last two seasons they have been badly let down by referees, the NFL and the council. We had a team to be proud of but which travelled to Toulouse with only 12 eligible players in what would have been an important play-off semi-final.

As for the community stadium being built for two teams to share, why not give true supporters a chance to have their say?
