READING the article about the Police and Crime Commissioner about to engage a deputy (The Press, August 17), it reminds me of an article in the national press by a notable press officer to a prominent MP.

He stated that people up north are as thick as two planks because they do not vote Conservative.

Well, here we have a Conservative PCC who made promises to protect police numbers, yet we pay more for less.

Who asks the public how much increase on the precept they were prepared to pay, knowing no matter what that the increase would be four per cent (more money for fewer police)?

Why does the PCC need a deputy after five years in the job?

How many others have the same thoughts?
