MATTHEW LAVERACK’S latest salvo, “Community Stadium project is train wreck” (The Press, August 18), provides a highly effective broadside against this ludicrous scheme that seemingly few want or support.
One gets the impression that little attention has been paid to possible collateral damage to the city centre or traffic complications while finances have gone into marking time.
Funds likely to be squandered could be so usefully and sensibly deployed elsewhere.
Rather than not allowing the plan to fail, the objective now should be not allowing it to proceed.
We’ve seen this sort of fiasco too often in York over the years so let’s hope wiser counsels prevail.
