I REFER to the news item “Boris on the defensive” (July 20), where The Press describes Boris Johnson’s verbal gaffes and insults to world leaders and politicians over the years.

I also refer to the picture showing Boris basically with his hand over his mouth and looking totally disinterested in the comments being made by the US Secretary of State John Kerry.

May I suggest that Boris looks through his laundry basket and finds one of the single socks that we all seem to somehow end up with and places it fairly and squarely inside his forever opening mouth in an attempt to prevent the insults he is famous for coming out with on a regular basis.
