I URGE Cllr Ashley Mason to show more compassion towards others who find themselves in less fortunate circumstances than himself.
The majority of so-called beggars are as us human beings and have found themselves in unfortunate and distressing circumstances.
Come on Cllr Mason just think but for the grace of God go I. Live and let live.
When you parade the streets of York, as you say at 10pm, 11pm or midnight, instead of berating the unfortunates be benevolent and drop a fiver in the lid of a friend who needs you.
If you begrudge it, put it on your expenses sheet and give the bill to the council, who are saving the brass by not having to shelter the unfortunates for the night.
