I READ with disgust the article with York City’s former chairman Douglas Craig (The Press, July 26).

I thought the man had stooped as low as he could when York was nearly deprived of a football club over 14 years ago.

He underestimated the passion and strong will of the York City fans and supporters who prevented the club from being sent into oblivion.

Among these supporters was Jason McGill, who has York City running through his veins.

Now Mr Craig has stooped even further by publicly criticising Jason.

Maybe Mr Craig didn’t have York City’s relegation to the Conference on his hands, but he could have had City going out of business.

He makes out that Jason is solely to blame for York City Knights’ predicament, but there are other factors and parties involved, ie City of York Council and John Guildford.

Everybody makes decisions in life that in hindsight we would have done differently or not at all.

I could say he made the mistake of selling the club to someone who was out to just make personal gain and free sponsorship for his touring car team.

I can speak on behalf of most York City supporters that we are grateful for all the hard work and patience that Jason McGill has put into the club.
