ADULTS who helped out during the Boxing Day floods have already been rewarded with medals. Now it is the younger generation’s turn for a reward.

But the kids didn’t want gongs, they wanted a day out and York Maze owner Tom Pearcy was only too happy to oblige. The Lord Mayor turned up as well and thanked the children for all their efforts.

Quite right too. Some were up until midnight standing in the cold and handing out hot soup, others delivered cleaning packs to affected homes. Parish Edge even worked solidly for nine days of his Christmas holidays.

Extraordinary, stuff, or should that be a-maze-ing?
