I AM absolutely appalled about the treatment of York City Knights by York City Council and York City to deny the Knights the use of Bootham Crescent because of three “friendly” football matches in eight days.

It is beyond belief when the Knights had reached the Super 8s play-offs with the best team seen in the York colours for some years.

Couldn’t York City have rearranged one of their “friendly” matches? To say the pitch would be overused is ridiculous during this weather.

After the Knights have played their matches there, one wouldn’t have known a match had taken place.

Having given up their own ground to allow a new stadium to be built there, I have watched them at Clifton Park, Heworth and Featherstone (all home games) because of obstacles put in their way.

Having been a York rugby supporter for 60 years and seeing the work done by the Knights in the community at schools etc it seems like a big kick in the teeth.

No doubt the full facts of the case will come to light in the future but, in the meantime, my best wishes go to the staff and all the teams over the years that have given me many good memories.
