IT beggars belief.
Oh dear, poor Cllr Ashley Mason is out and about late at night and sees beggars making York scruffy (The Press, July 20).
It’s a pity the councillor is not out during daylight where he can see scruffy York.
Potholes in the roads that can damage vehicles, even cycles. Pavements with broken and uneven surfaces making walking a hazard. Public benches need cleaning and graffiti removed.
Grass verges when they are cut look like it’s been done with a knife and fork (as the expression goes), no strimming or finishing off is done.
It would be good to have no beggars but get the priorities in the right order – and I don’t think number one on the list should be beggars.
So councillor, come out of your ivory tower, look around and see how to improve amenities for all the people.
