I WRITE in response to the news from NHS England (The Press, July 22).
While it is disappointing that Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been placed into special measures this sadly comes as no surprise.
I am reassured that NHS England are now intervening directly to resolve some of the issues we have faced as a city.
These were identified as being related to “capacity, capability, financial governance and financial recovery”.
With the resignation of the chief officer, we have an opportunity to look again at how we bring in the right people to lead the CCG through its current difficulties.
I look forward to the attendance of the interim chief officer to present her plans to health scrutiny at our September meeting and will be pressing both her and NHS England to ensure we get the very best health care for people living in our city.
Cllr Paul Doughty, Strensall ward, Chair, health and adult social care policy and scrutiny committee, City of York Council
