IT’S an absolute disgrace (The Press, July 19).

So many people waiting to move into a new home being prevented from doing so because of a few inches. We’re always being told that size matters, but it hardly seems relevant in this case.

I don’t know about now, but property deeds used to refer to a dwellinghouse situated on land measuring whatever the size “or thereabouts”. Surely the few inches in question on that development could be the “thereabouts”?

Where is the common sense? Where is the leeway?

Of course we don’t know the full facts, but it’s totally unacceptable that all those people have been inconvenienced, probably given notice on their present homes and/or arranged a completion date and having to move into costly temporary accommodation all at the last minute.

Moving home is stressful enough without something as seemingly paltry as that denying them their arranged move.

Do people count for anything any more?

Isn’t it time the common sense brigade took over?
