I READ the article re Bootham Park by David Smith (The Press, June 9) and would like to make the following points.
Care in the community is rarely a successful alternative for those patients deserving in-patient treatment.
If a patient had a complex fracture of a major limb there would be no discussion as to whether that patient was eligible for admission to hospital.
Too many vulnerable and suicidal patients are left in crisis with disastrous consequences.
An adequate number of in-patient beds could lessen this number.
