CHRISTIAN VASSIE mentioned a government leaflet sent to all households in 1975 (Letters, June 17).
I don’t recall getting one let alone reading one, although I was a first time mother nursing a very young baby so perhaps I maybe forgiven that slip.
I naively thought I was voting for fairer, easier trading.
His leaflet quotes “help the poorer nations of Europe”. Well now, the rich nations got richer and the poor got poorer.
It also said “maintain peace and freedom”. Peace maybe, but freedom? No way.
One more thing, his previous letter (June 15) listed lots of people we shouldn’t ignore. He missed one off. Uncle Tom Cobley.
