I was greatly disappointed to discover a large bell with a hammer has been placed in the garden of Holy Trinity Church in Goodramgate.
It has a carved banner that reads “Ring For Peace”.
What a pity that the custodians of this beautiful church have chosen such an empty gimmick.
Surely a more important, meaningful and significant gesture, would be to preserve the natural contemplative peace that already exists in this delightful, calming and beautiful haven in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city centre?

THE North Yorkshire Branch of the Cystic Fibroses Trust would like to say a massive thank you to all those people who made a contribution at our charity collection on Saturday, May 21, in the city of York.
We received a total of £362.75 which is fantastic. A couple of us dressed up as Big Bird which delighted many children. We were also in a few hen weekend photos!
