As someone committed to remaining in the European Union I don’t usually take much notice of Boris Johnson. The studied comedy act leaves me cold, but he must be pulled up on something he said when his circus visited York.
He claimed leaving would be to the benefit of Nestle, yet the company have clearly stated that it: "will re-evaluate the extent of its presence in the UK if Britain decided to leave the European Union".
The company chairman, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, also said that withdrawal from the EU could put investment in this country at risk.
Both the Tories’ remain and leave camps have been making outrageous claims that do not bear scrutiny but when someone comes into my city and misrepresents the major employer they must be held to account.
