The first day of the 2016 York racing season, the Dante Festival, we have two sets of roadworks on the main road bridge over the Ouse, Lendal Bridge.
There is Northern Powergrid repairing underground cables on one section and Yorkshire Water installing new water mains between St Leonard’s Place and Lendal Bridge.
The premier shopping street in York, Stonegate, has just received a patchwork replacing some of the broken York stone paving stones and leaving it looking like a patchwork quilt.
What a shambles.
Don’t City of York Council have anyone to co-ordinate road works and events in and around the city and make York a place for people to feel welcome and want to return to again?
