DISGUSTING. That’s basically the only word to describe the asphalt patchwork repairs in Stonegate (The Press, May 14).

Disgusting also describes the lack of pride in our city that has allowed this to happen.

Temporary is a word that should never be used in such repair work in streets of such high importance.

The visitors who see this abomination will take it away in their minds and in photographs, as a permanent recording of their visit.

According to Cllr Ian Gillies a report will be brought forward later this year with a view to having a new project that will fund and repair parts of the city centre.

There is no guarantee, just an aim. Let us hope this aim is a huge improvement on the last administration’s aim, which seemed to miss the target completely.

There is an awful lot of necessary work needed. Parliament Street is a perfect example of what should be taking first place in the queue for improvement.

Although organisations do their best to hide it under fancy stalls and tents, all the uneven paving on this landmark pedestrian area is there for all to see when they are removed.

In the meantime, please remove these asphalt blots on the streetscape ASAP.
