RE Terrys clock (Letters, April 27), I worked in the electrical department for 46 years, apart from three and a half years in the Royal Navy.
During those very happy years, we were responsible for the maintenance of the clock and, although my memory is getting a little rusty, I can’t remember having to call in a clock repairer during those years.
It was a mechanical system with some electrical back-up, and there was no need for a magnifying glass.
So I would agree with Ann Petherick’s comment on the cost being negligible.
