IT was reported that since the introduction of a camera van in 2014 105 people have been fined for parking illegally outside schools (The Press, April 27).

This works out to 52 per year or one a week. Is this value for money? What does this vehicle and crew do the rest of the time?

During my short walk to collect my morning paper, I regularly see cars parked illegally on double yellow lines on corners and outside parking bays, sometimes two or three a day. So where is the super van or traffic wardens at this time? Or do they not work early in the morning?

Give me a book, leave the camera van and crew in the garage and see how much money the council would save. If I was put on a productivity payment, I could make a bit of pocket money for myself during my normal daily walk.
