I WONDER if your readers can help.
I am trying to trace a family member who I know very little about other than his name and where he may have lived in 1926; this is a bit of an assumption as it is an address that appeared on my mother’s birth certificate.
His name was Wilfrid (may also be spelt Wilfred) Harry Sampson and in 1926 he may have lived at 20 De Grey Street in York.
He may or may not have been married to my grandmother, June Sampson nee Brown.
His date of birth could be 1904 and death 1988.
Again this is a guess because it is the only information I can find relating to a person with this name living in this area.
The only other thing I know is he is my maternal grandfather. My mother’s birth certificate states he was a “confectioner (journeyman)”.
My mother says she knows nothing about him as her mother (my grandmother) told her nothing.
Perhaps this relates to something that happened around the time of my mother’s birth or maybe later. I don’t know.
