THE business article (The Press, February 1) “Farming may not benefit from EU exit” was disturbing.

Again the British public is kept in the dark over what are the benefits of staying in the EU.

I remember that it was only recently that farmers were up in arms over the milk issue, where they were forced to sell milk at a loss. Not very British is it?

In the 1970s we joined what was then the Common Market. Before we went into that quagmire we had a healthy trade exchange with our Commonwealth and worldwide.

That quickly changed into high food prices and butter and sugar mountains.

No doubt our politicians must have gained huge benefits somewhere to have endorsed our entry.

What is badly needed now is stark facts about staying or leaving. Our politicians must respect their electorate.
