RE MICHAEL Fitzsimmons (The Press, February 6), this was so sad and shouldn’t have happened.

My stepfather was taken into hospital and after a few weeks was given a place in a lovely care home. He has just got settled and happy, only to be told they are closing. What happens now?

There are so many closing, where are they going to place all these OAPs? There are 1,342 patients ready to be discharged. Where to?

We can build plenty of student flats, but nowhere for our loved ones. This is a disgusting state of affairs.

The people responsible for this dilemma will be old themselves one day, so think on.
