IT was nice to see the picture of the York fire station (Letters, February 2) from a time when it was in use.
As I walked through York on a recent Saturday afternoon, it was obvious that this has now become York’s latest free car park.
As I walked to Skeldergate Bridge along Tower Street so many cars were using it I had to walk in the road to get past.
This is all within sight of Castle car park, but this of course charges to park.
I think a pair of yellow lines and a parking attendant would solve this problem.
