I COULD hardly believe what I heard about the police bill for the Ecuadorian Embassy where Julian Assange was seeking political asylum comes to a staggering £12 million for three years.

It’s no wonder police forces are so stretched for money when this amount can be spent on one individual.

I am sure that police forces have much better things to do than spending hours and vast amounts of cash.

Just how many police officers were utilised here on a full-time basis? I suspect in the region of 40 or more per day. Just what would an extra 40 police officers do for North Yorkshire?
