IF Sainsbury’s get their late licence to sell alcohol I hope the police and council don’t blame the pub trade for all the antisocial behaviour (The Press, February 2).
They both hated pubs having “happy hours” yet these mini-supermarkets can sell cheap alcohol all day and night.
The Nags Head has recently closed and they had trebles for singles a while back, but still couldn’t cope with supermarkets selling cheap booze.
I have nothing against Sainsbury’s selling cheap alcohol but not in the city centre where most of the pubs are struggling to make ends meet.
